"Murasaki no Ue" is the niece of Fujitsubo in the Tale of Genji, and is an ideal woman of both beauty and intelligence. Genji fell in love with her when she was a child and she lived a peaceful life, but she was troubled by the fact that her family was not of noble birth and that she could not have children with Genji. |
